Warffum (Groningen, Netherlands)

Warffum, a village in the Dutch province of Groningen, where in early 1535 the cloister of the knights of St. John was attacked by a group of 70 revolutionary Anabaptists, led by Jacob Cremer. The attack, however, was repulsed and the Anabaptists put to flight by the soldiers of stadholder Karel van Gelre.
