Mathilda Kliewer Voth was a missionary under the General Conference Mennonite Church (GCM) in China (1919-1939), Japan (1951-1955), and Taiwan (1955-1958). Born at Whitewater, Kansas, to John P. and Eva Jantz Kliewer, she attended Bethel College (1916-1917), Denver University (summer, 1927), and Witmarsum Seminary (1927-1928). She taught school at Vona, Colorado (1917-1918). She married William C. Voth in 1918. They were ordained for missionary service in June 1919. Four children were born to them.

In China Mathilda was director of the Girls’ Mission School at Taming (1923-27), then held literacy and evangelism classes and home study Bible courses for women in the villages. From 1942 to 1950 she was secretary for the Women's Missionary Association of the General Conference Mennonite Church. After retirement she remained active in church, community, and family affairs, teaching and writing. Her book Clear Shining After Rain (Newton, 1980) is an account of her missionary experiences. Mathilda Voth died 1 April 1986.
