The Vernon Community Church in Vernon, British Columbia began services in October 1994 and formally organized in 1995. Bert and Heather Kamphuis are considered the founding leaders of the group. Attendance reached 100 but after disagreements among the church leadership, many people left the congregation and attendance dropped to 25. By 1995 membership had dropped from 16 to 6 members. From 1996 to 1997 Douglas Braun served as congregational leader and in 1997 this church closed after some internal leadership difficulties.
