Verhaal der Ortderhandeling . . . voorgevallen in Amsterdam 1684 en 1685 (Amsterdam, 1685) is the circumstantial report of the negotiations between the representatives of the Lamist and Zonist churches of Amsterdam to restore unity in the Amsterdam congregation, which had been severed by the Lammerenkrijgh and the schism of 1664. These negotiations, however, failed. The main difference concerned the importance of the confessions of faith. The Zonists thought them in dispensable; the Lamists on the contrary did not wish to have fixed confessions of faith. The Lamists were represented in the conferences by Galenus Abrahamsz, Willem van Maurik, and some Amsterdam Lamist deacons; the Zonists by Samuel Apostool and Michiel Fortgens with some Amsterdam Zonist deacons, but also by some Zonist leaders from outside, e.g., Pieter Jansz Stapper, Jan Maartens Mol, E. A. van Dooregeest, and Samuel van Deyl.
