Anthony del (de la Faille) Vaille was a councillor of the court of [[Friesland (Netherlands)|Friesland]], Netherlands, ca. 1550. A zealous [[Roman Catholic Church|Roman Catholic]], he was a collaborator of the [[Inquisition|Inquisition]] in hunting heretics. In September 1557 he sent a friendly invitation to the Mennonite [[Jacques d'Auchy (d. 1559)|Jacques d'Auchy]] of Harlingen, whom he had met at an earlier date. As soon as Jacques, unaware of danger, arrived he was apprehended, put in prison, tried, and executed on 14 March 1559. Later a few members of the de la Faille family were Mennonites.
