Anthony del (de la Faille) Vaille was a councillor of the court of Friesland, Netherlands, ca. 1550. A zealous Roman Catholic, he was a collaborator of the Inquisition in hunting heretics. In September 1557 he sent a friendly invitation to the Mennonite Jacques d'Auchy of Harlingen, whom he had met at an earlier date. As soon as Jacques, unaware of danger, arrived he was apprehended, put in prison, tried, and executed on 14 March 1559. Later a few members of the de la Faille family were Mennonites.
