Untere Mennoniten

Untere Mennoniten, a name formerly given to a group of Mennonites in Switzerland, Alsace, and the Palatinate who were followers of Hans Reist, while the Amish were sometimes called "Obere Mennoniten." The name was used here and there in Alsace until the middle of the 19th century.
