Tsingfeng Mennonite Mission (Hebei Province, China)
Tsingfeng Mennonite Mission (General Conference Mennonite). Tsingfeng is a county in southern Hebei Sheng (Hopei Province), with an area of 580 square miles and a population estimated at 344,000 in the late 1950s. Mission work was begun by the General Conference Mennonite Board of Missions in 1920. A primary school was established and a church organized at the county seat. Later another organized church developed at Kao-Tsun, a market town in the country, and regular services were held in three other preaching places. The staff of nationals consisted of an evangelist at each organized church, a schoolteacher, and a Bible woman, with other itinerant workers. In 1941 the work was disrupted by the Japanese occupation. Missionary work was not resumed after the war because of Communist control, but the Chinese church continued to be active.
