The True and Blessed Way, Which Leadeth Beneath the Cross to Heaven or a True Doctrine from the Word of God, for the Benefit of Every Lover of the Truth, and the Encouragement of Their Salvation (Harrisburg, 1816), pp. 314, a small book by John Herr. This is the English edition of Der wahre und selige Weg (Lancaster, 1815), the first and one of the most important works of John Herr, the founder of the Reformed Mennonite Church (1812). It is essentially a defense of the new group, a justification of their breach with the Mennonite Church (MC), and a statement of their principles. Its recurring theme is the apostasy of the Mennonite Church from the teachings of Menno Simons and Dirk Philips. Chapter V (199-284) is headed, "It is explained why we have separated ourselves from the Mennonist Society; and why we cannot find spiritual liberty to hear their teachers." In addition to the reprints in the two editions of Herr's Complete Works (1875 and 1890), separate reprints were made in 1874 (German) and 1887 (English).
