Peter Tiessen, Jr.: minister and elder of the Danzig Mennonite Church during the time of transition from the lay to the salaried ministry; born 2 January 1765 in Danzig-Schidlitz, West Prussia to Peter Tiessen (18 December 1739, Petershagen, West Prussia - 17 March 1825) and Elisabeth "Liescke" (Wilcke) Von Steen Tiessen (15 June 1737, Schoenfeld, West Prussia - 5 December 1814, Danzig-Schidlitz, West Prussia). Peter married Magdalena Mahl (16 July 1769, Danzig-Altschottland, West Prussia - 10 March 1828, Danzig-Stadtgebiet, West Prussia), daughter of Isaac Mahl (1739-1800) and Magdalena "Leencke" Lamberts (1740-1792), on 8 July 1794 in Danzig-Stadtgebiet, West Prussia. Peter and Magdalena had seven children, of which four lived to adulthood: Magdalena, Isaac, Peter, and Maria. Peter died on 1 October 1826 in Danzig-Stadtgebiet, West Prussia.

Peter Tiessen Jr. was elected minister at the age of 36 on 17 August 1800 to help his father, Elder Peter Tiessen. It was during their ministry that the Frisian and the Flemish churches were united in 1808. When his father died on 17 March 1825, the son was elected elder. He died 1 October 1826, and was succeeded by Jacob van der Smissen, the first theologically trained minister of Danzig.
