Thomas (Toenis) Arentsz, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr burned at the stake with two others 28 June 1553, at Leeuwarden in [[Friesland (Netherlands)|Friesland]], [[Netherlands|Netherlands]]. He was (re)baptized, rejected the Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation, and believed "that all that is done in the (Catholic) church is idolatry." He persisted in his heresy, i.e., he died as a loyal member of the Mennonite church.
