Thomas (Toenis) Arentsz, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr burned at the stake with two others 28 June 1553, at Leeuwarden in [[Friesland (Netherlands)|Friesland]], [[Netherlands|Netherlands]]. He was (re)baptized, rejected the Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation, and believed "that all that is done in the ([[Roman Catholic Church|Catholic]]) church is idolatry." He was (re)baptized, rejected the Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation, and believed "that all that is done in the (Catholic) church is idolatry." He persisted in his heresy, i.e., he died as a loyal member of the Mennonite church.
