Carl Christian Philipp Tauchnitz (1798-1884), a prominent German book dealer, and a warm friend of the German Mennonites. In the winter of 1830 a Baptist preacher in London told him about the German Mennonites, and when he returned to Germany he visited Weierhof, [[Monsheim (Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany)|Monsheim]], Kindenheim, Spitalhof, and [[Sembach (Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany)|Sembach]].
