Jakob Storger, an Anabaptist martyr of Koburg, who was baptized at Wels in Upper Austria in 1528 by Wolfgang Brandhuber, lived at first as a gunsmith in Gittelde im Grund, a valley in the Upper Harz, Germany, but considering his trade sinful he left the region and settled with his family above Zorge near the Spitzenberge. Here he made troughs with other Anabaptists. He was chosen preacher at a meeting of Anabaptists at Langenwiese. In the middle of August he was expelled from Brunswick territory. For six weeks he wandered preaching and baptizing in Thuringia. In October 1537 he settled with his family in a suburb of Mühlhausen. There he was arrested and examined on the rack on 11 October.  On 8 November 1537, he suffered a martyr's death with three other Anabaptists; he was drowned in the Unstrut between Mühlhausen and Ammern.
