Steven Benedictus, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr, who was executed at Hoorn, Holland, on 7 June 1535. They declared that they did not re­gret their [[Baptism|baptism]] after the order of Christ, that is, be­ing baptized unto remission of sins, putting on the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 13:14), and obtaining a good conscience toward God (1 Peter 3:21). Their execution shocked the citizens of Hoorn, and even some of the city magistrates, who knew them as good people, were greatly excited.
