Karl Philipp Spitta, (1801-1859), a German [[Luther, Martin (1483-1546)|Lutheran]] pastor and hymn writer, church superintendent at Burghof, [[Prussia|Prussia]], [[Germany|Germany]]. His collection of hymns, the <em>Psalter und Harfe</em>, is found on the bookshelf of many a Mennonite family.
