Sieuwertsz van Reesema, a Dutch Mennonite family whose ancestor was Willem Sieuwersze, a maker of camlet (a fabric of camel's hair or wool), born 1643 at Emden, East Friesland, Germany, who moved to Amsterdam, Holland, where he died in 1688. He and his wife Susanna van Gent were members of the Mennonite church as were their descendants for many generations, found at Amsterdam, Haarlem, Leiden, Rotterdam, and other towns of the Netherlands. They first were textile merchants and manufacturers, but later also bakers and lawyers. Some of them served the Mennonite congregation at Rotterdam as deacons. Abraham Sieuwertsz van Reesema (Leiden, 1786 - Rotterdam, 1848), a lawyer and deacon of the Rotterdam church, was a close friend of Pastor Nic. Messchaert, whom he assisted morally and financially in his efforts for the welfare and better education of his fellow citizens. Albert Cornelis Sieuwertsz van Reesema (1853-1911) was a deacon at Rotterdam and in 1873-86 a trustee of the Algemeene Doopsgezinde Sociëteit (Dutch General Mennonite Conference). Most of his descendants have now left the church. In 1690 a Sievert Sievertsen van Reschema was found at Danzig, West Prussia, who may have been a member of the same family.
