Schoorl, a village in the Dutch province of North Holland (population in 2001, 2,855), in the neighborhood of which is found a Mennonite Brotherhood Home (Broederschapshuis), operated since 1 July 1932. A church was dedicated on 16 July 1951. This home is used during the summer for conferences and special meetings and also as a vacation center. From November 1950 until December 1956 a number of aged "displaced persons" from Eastern Europe were sheltered in the Van-de-Water House, a building not far from the Brotherhood Home. Since February 1958 the Van-de-Water House has also been sheltering a number of children (formerly at Oud-Wulven), who are being educated here under the care of the Dutch Mennonite Bijzondere Noden foundation.
