Sander Hendriksz, an Anabaptist martyr, executed (probably by beheading) in the Steen castle at Antwerp, Belgium, on 19 November 1558. He is named as No. 34 in the hymn "Aenhoort, Godt, hemelsche Vader," No. 16 in the Lietboecxken. The brief information on this martyr found in van Braght's Martyrs' Mirror is borrowed from this hymn. Génard has published more particulars about Sander, including the exact date of execution. He was known as Alexander de Bode (i.e., Messenger), and was probably a "weetdoener" of the Antwerp congregation, who visited the members to announce the time and place of the next meeting. Sander was a cabinetmaker by trade. (See Alexander de Bode, which this article supplements.)
