Peter Paul Rempel, a [[Mennonite Brethren Church|Mennonite Brethren]] (MB) evangelist, teacher, and elder, was born 12 August 1865 in [[Russia|Russia]], the oldest son of Peter P. and Gertrude Rempel. At the age of 28 he was converted and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church through baptism. For his theological training he attended the St. Chrischona Bible School at [[Basel (Switzerland)|Basel]], [[Switzerland|Switzerland]]. On 31 July 1897 he married Theresia Esau. A son and two daughters were born to them. He began to do evangelistic work in the Mennonite Brethren Church in Russia and was ordained to the ministry in 1900. In 1900 Rempel immigrated to America, establishing his home in [[Kansas (USA)|Kansas]], where he continued his studies, especially in English. For eight years he was chiefly engaged as traveling evangelist in the MB Church Conference and was much in demand for such service. With the beginning of [[Tabor College (Hillsboro, Kansas, USA)|Tabor College]] 1908 he served on its faculty five years, teaching chiefly theological subjects.
