Relief, Colonization, and Public Service, Incorporated
Relief, Colonization, and Public Service, Incorporated, of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. In the early 1930s, during and before the great drought in western Kansas and eastern Colorado, Sam Dirks and A. L. Yost took a special interest in resettlement of needy families. In 1933 the General Conference chose five men of the Western District to form a Colonization Board, with one additional member from each of the other two districts. The board operates under the General Conference and serves in both home and foreign relief and rehabilitation work. The board has been instrumental in forming settlements at Fredonia (Kansas); Bonner's Ferry (Idaho); Burns (Kansas); La Junta (Chihuaua, Mexico); Huron (South Dakota); Atmore (Alabama); and Stapleton (Georgia).
