Peter Regier: minister and elder; born 31 January 1798 in Heubuden, Prussia, the second child and eldest son of Elder Abraham Regier (1774-1851) and Elisabeth (Claassen) Regier (1776-1798). His mother died when he was four months old and within the year his father was married for the second time to Catharina Goossen (1780-1813). Peter married his cousin, Margaretha Regier (12 September 1799 - 25 January 1861, Tiegenhagen, Prussia) on 22 October 1818 in Tiegenhagen, Prussia. She was the daughter of Elder Peter Regier (1776-1814) and Agatha (Wiebe) Regier (1762-1827). Peter and Margaretha had fifteen children, but only four survived to adulthood: Peter b. 1825, Abraham b. 1831, Cornelius b. 1835 and Gerhard b. 1837. Peter died at Tiegenhagen on 9 March 1856.

Peter was chosen as preacher in 1825 and as elder in 1833 (the selection was by lot; he had received 104 votes and Jacob Wiebe of Ladekopp 102) by the Grosswerder Mennonite congregation. However, he declined to carry the office alone on the grounds that each of the component congregations was entitled to an elder of its own and that his father and Isaac Schulz, co-elders of the large district, had found the work too difficult. The Ladekopp congregation then chose Jacob Wiebe as elder, whereas the Rosenort congregation continued to be served by the elder of Tiegenhagen until 1857.

Peter Regier was active in the congregations. He conducted elections for elder at Fürstenwerder (1841), Ellerwald (1846), Heubuden (1852, to replace his father, who died in 1851), and Ladekopp (1853). In 1853 he officiated at an election for minister in Ladekopp, where his brother-in-law Peter Regier of Mierau was chosen.

All four of Peter Regier's sons served in the ministry in the Grosswerder congregations: (1) Peter Regier, elder at Fürstenwerder; (2) Abraham Regier, elder 1855 at Tiegenhagen; (3) Cornelius Regier, preacher at Tiegenhagen; (4) Gerhard Regier, deacon at Tiegenhagen (he declined the office of preacher to which he was chosen in 1881).
