The Red Deer Mennonite Brethren congregation began services in 1982, and formally organized in 1983. The first building was occupied in 1985. [[Schmidt, Marvin (1936-2001)|Marvin Schmidt]] is considered the founding leader of the group, serving as pastor from 1983 until 1988. The congregation originated through outreach by the [[Alberta Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches|Alberta Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches]].

In 1985 there were 19 members; in 1988, 26. The congregation dissolved about 1988. It had been affiliated with the Alberta Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches, [[Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches|Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches]] and General Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. The language of worship is English.

Due to a decline in membership following recession in the community, the congregation moved to an evening service format in January 1988.
