Quins, a Mennonite family of Hamburg-Altona, Germany. Its ancestor was Hans Quins (born 1557, Flanders - died of the plague 1597, Hamburg), whose wife’s name was Rinske, and who was a cutler and a sword-maker. About 1580 he moved from Flanders, probably from Diest or its surroundings, to Hamburg. His daughter Jannecke (Hannchen, died 1663, Altona) was married to Paul Roosen (1582, Oldesloe - 1649, Altona).
