Pruys Liedtboeck
Pruys Liedtboeck (Prussian Songbook) is a Mennonite hymnal in the Dutch language, which was used by the Mennonites of Prussia, Germany. Its author was J. J. (Jan Jansz?) of Danzig. It was printed at Amsterdam in 1604 and contains 205 pages with 44 hymns without notes. Most of the hymns are composed by the editor, who signs with the motto "Ledigh-gangh leert veel quaets." The Doopsgezind Jaarboekje (1837, 64) mentions a Pruys Liedtboeck, by H. v. D. (that is, Hans van Dantzich). This is the same as the above hymnal, Jan Jansz being identical with Hans van Dantzich (or Dantzig). Of a Tweede Pruys Liedtboeksken by S. H., published at Alkmaar in 1607 (mentioned in DJ 1837, 65), nothing is known.
