Brian and Becky Wiebe began planting a new church in the Promontory area of Chilliwack in December 2000 and had their first public event on Christmas Eve with 130 in attendance. The public launch of the church was on 11 March 2001 and held their charter service two months later, on 3 May, with 31 charter members. The congregation joined the British Columbia Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches in May 2001. Other Mennonite Brethren churches in Chilliwack supported the church plant financially and with core support couples. By 2008 the congregation had a membership of 190 and an average weekly attendance of 600.
