Portage County, [[Ohio (State)|Ohio]], south of [[Cleveland (Ohio, USA)|Cleveland]], was formed from [[Trumbull County (Ohio, USA)|Trumbull County]] in 1807. It is so named from the old Indian portage path seven miles long between the Cuyahoga and Tuscarawas rivers.
