Pieter van den Hende, an Anabaptist martyr, a native of Stekene, Flanders, who was living at Ghent, Belgium, was burned at the stake with Willem van Ackere (de Camp) on 11 July 1551, at Merelbeke near Ghent. Both had been seized at Merelbeke. Pieter was a cabinetmaker. His property was confiscated. Both Pieter and Willem had been baptized by Gillis van Aken.
