Peter van den Broecke, an Anabaptist martyr, was burned at the stake on 18 August 1550, at Antwerp, Belgium Van Braght's account  that Jan and Pleun died with him is not correct. Jan Lievensz van Gent was executed on 14 August and Pleun, who is called "een Lakenbereider" without the mention of another name, on 22 August. Their death is commemorated in the song Een Liedeken van III Vrienden, No. 4 in the Lietboecxken; it begins with the words, "Ick sal met vreuchden singen een Liet." Van Braght mentions the "three friends" but names only Jan Lievensz. Peter van den Broecke, a baker, was born at Komen (Commines) in Flanders; he later lived in Ghent.
