Oldtown Mennonite Church (Oldtown, Maryland, USA)
The first service of the Oldtown Mennonite Church was held on 17 July 2011 at the Allegany Boy’s Camp in Oldtown, Maryland, USA. The church was started to support the camp workers and their families and to also be a witness in the Oldtown community. When the first boys came to the camp in September 2011, the services were moved to a rented room in the old public school building in Oldtown. The Lynford Rutt family moved to Oldtown in September 2013 to serve as the first resident pastor.
The six church groups supporting the camp are Cumberland Valley, Southeastern Conference, Beachy churches of Virginia, River Brethren of Chambersburg Pennsylvania, Hope Fellowship and Mid-Atlantic Fellowship. In 2013 these church groups were providing a minister to preach the first three Sundays of the month with Lynford Rutt preaching on the fourth Sunday. Keith Clugston from Mountain View MAMF) serves as bishop.
Some families from Cumberland Valley, Southeastern, Mid-Atlantic and Hope Fellowship groups drive in on Sunday mornings to help with the church services. In 2013, average Sunday morning attendance was about 30; membership figure not available.
