Novomoskovsk (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine)

Novomoskovsk (Novo-Moskovsk) is an area in the Alexandrovsk area of the province of Ekaterinoslav, Russia (now Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine), where Mennonites from West Prussia settled in 1799 and founded the village of Kronsgarten, which served as a model for the native Russian villages around them in the plan of the farms and also in the tilling of the soil. "Externally these [Novo-Moskovsk] Russian villages (like Yodgornoye) are like the Mennonite villages. The same plan of buildings and arrangement of the farm, the gardens before the homes, trees along the streets, orchards, fences along the street, made of red tile and carefully laid drainage tile."
