Een Nieu Sangh-boec (A New Songbook), inhoudende eenighe Psalmen, Lof-sanghen ende Geestelijcke Liedekens seer stichtelijcken om te singhen voor ende nae de Predicatie. This Dutch Mennonite hymnal was printed in 1628 at Dokkum (all copies apparently lost). A third edition of Een Nieuw Sangh-boeck appeared at Dokkum in 1650 in one volume containing two parts of 210 and 550 pages in a small size. This edition, of which a copy is found in the Amsterdam Mennonite Library, contains (a) 22 Psalms in the rhymed version of Dathenus; (b) Part I of the hymns being a collection of 41 Geestelijcke Liedekens (spiritual hymns); (c) Part II of the hymns with a separate title page and a new pagination, entitled Sommighe Nieuwe Schriftuerlijcke Liedekens, containing 107 hymns obviously mostly taken from other hymnals; 14 of these hymns are signed with the device "Hier nae beter" (Later better) and the letters J. S. (Jan Sents). After hymn No. 30 there is found an address "Tot den Leser" (to the reader); probably the following 77 hymns had not been included in the first and second editions of this hymnal. The whole collection, both psalms and hymns, is without notes.
There is a reprint, published at Leeuwarden in 1679, with the title Een Nieuw Sangh-boeck, ofte anders genaemt, Jan Sents Liedtboeck. This reprint is quite similar to the 1650 edition, except for a few accidental alterations. It is also without notes. The preface to this 1679 edition states that this hymn book was used in the congregations of Friesland.
