Nicolaes de Penty (d. 1562)

Nicolaes de Penty was an Anabaptist martyr. He was  born at Douai, France, and secretly drowned in the Steencastle prison at Antwerp, Belgium on 4 April 1562, because he "persisted in his rebaptism." His furniture, clothing, and tools were confiscated and publicly sold on 30 January 1562; this indicates that he was then already in prison. Further particulars are lacking, and his trade is not mentioned. He must have been an artisan.
