New York Mädchenschule (Bachmut Mennonite Settlement, Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine)
The New York Mädchenschule (secondary school for girls) was established in the Bachmut Mennonite settlement, Ukraine, in 1907 after the New York Zentralschule had been established. The next year a second class was added. The sponsor of the school was J. J. Thiessen of Ekaterinoslav. The leading teacher was Viktoria Klein. Other teachers were Miss L. P. Ediger, Miss H. A. Leonhard, Miss A. D. Rempel, Johann Barg, and Dietrich Dyck. A supporting Mädchenschul-Verein aided the school. In 1913-14 there were 40 members in the fourth class. Little is known about the later development of the school.
