Michiel Stevens of Oosterhout, a potter, an Anabaptist martyr, was beheaded at Vught near Hertogenbosch, Dutch province of North Brabant on 9 September 1538, with Jan Blok of Ghent and Adriaen of The Hague, both weavers. In the sentence Michiel is called "boersdreger," i.e., purse bearer; he was therefore probably a deacon who had charge of aid to poor members.
