In the constitution of the Association of German Mennonite churches adopted on 11 June 1934, provision was made for an annual "Mennonite Day" "to reflect on the Gospel and the Mennonite confession of faith as the foundation of our church life in the past and present." The first Mennonite Day was held on Ascension Day, 30 May 1935, in Altona. After that the plan was to hold the meetings annually in rotation in various parts of Germany. Further Mennonitentags were held: Gronau and Emden 1936, Berlin 1937, Regensburg and Munich 1938, Krefeld 1939. Later attempts to revive these meetings were fruitless.
