Mennonite Mission Church (Hannibal, Missouri, USA)
Mennonite Mission Church (Mennonite Church), 1530 Lyon Street, Hannibal, Missouri, USA), formerly known as the Mennonite Gospel Mission, 2313 Market Street, was a member of the South Central Conference, with a membership in 1956 of 77. Mennonite services were first conducted in Hannibal by members of the Palmyra Mennonite Church in 1927. Nelson E. Kauffman was appointed the first superintendent by the Missouri-Kansas District Mission Board in 1934, and the congregation was organized in August 1934. A church was built at 1530 Lyon Street in 1936. Young men were given missionary apprenticeship experience there after 1939. Nelson E. Kauffman served as the minister from August 1934, and bishop from September 1940, with Harold Kreider as minister. In 1956 Kauffman moved to Elkhart, IN, and Kreider became pastor of the congregation.
