McCook County, SD U.S. Census TIGER/Line map

McCook County, in southeastern South Dakota, adjoins the two heavily Mennonite populated counties of Turner and Hutchinson. The one Mennonite church (General Conference Mennonite) in the county was located in Bridgewater. This town with population of less than 1,000 in 1956 was an important trading center for Mennonites and had a number of business establishments operated by them. The total Mennonite population of the county was approximately 300 in 1956, of whom less than 100 lived in Bridgewater.
