Mayes County Old Order Amish Settlement (Mayes County, Oklahoma, USA)

The Mayes County (Oklahoma) Old Order Amish Settlement was located southwest of Choteau, Oklahoma. Among the first Amish families who came there (1910) were Rudy Yoder and M. K. Yoder from Custer County, OK, Eli Mast from Ford County, Kansas, David Plank from Reno County, Kansas, R. B. Detweiler from Geauga County, Ohio, and Eli Miller from Tuscarawas County, Ohio. The first bishop of the group was M. J. Troyer, and L. M. Yoder was the first minister. There has always been only one district. In 1956 the membership was 64.
