Marytge (Marytgen) Jan de Gortersdochter (Maritgen Jans), the mother of the Anabaptist leader David Joris, was arrested at Delft, Dutch province of South Holland in January 1539 (not 1538 as stated in G. Brandt, Historie der Reformatie I, 134). She recanted ("abjuring her rebaptism") and was after some trials beheaded at Delft, shortly before 26 February 1539.
