Haug Marschalck (Zoller), was a personality long shrouded in obscurity, a writer of popular literature, of considerable influence in the early days of the Reformation through his broadsides. He was a soldier, serving first in the imperial army, entering the service of the city of Augsburg, Germany, as a soldier in 1508; in 1519 he was in the expedition against Ulrich of Wüttenberg, took part in the Peasants' War in 1525, and marched against the Turks in 1529. He died in 1535 in Augsburg.

Marschalck adopted the new Protestant doctrine with enthusiasm and defended it with his broadsides. But when he realized that it did not produce the expected fruit he turned away in disappointment. In his booklet Spiegel der Blinden this is clearly expressed. "We have not yet received full vision, although the light is breaking through everywhere. . . . The Wittenberg preachers are on the right road; too bad that so few take heed to their words, and still fewer take their admonitions to heart. . . . We should seek Christ alone, trust in Him alone, and call upon Him alone without any mediator. And we should love our brethren and do good. Even the teachers and preachers of the new doctrine walk before the mirror of the blind in consequence of their lack of constancy; they are probably worried about the decrease of the breadbasket. . . ."

These are ideas with which the Augsburg Anabaptists occupied themselves. It is possible that he was acquainted with Eitelhans Langenmantel. In his booklet Der Blindenführer he presents views that coincide with those of Hans Denck. But there is no evidence that he joined the Anabaptist circle.
