Marcus de Ledersnijder, an Anabaptist martyr, was seized at Kortrijk (Courtrai) in Flanders, Belgium. In spite of torture he refused to return to the Catholic faith, and was therefore burned at the stake at Kortrijk on 12 December 1559 (van Braght has erroneously 1558). He was a weaver and his official name was Marcus (Marcx) van de Gheinste. His property was confiscated.
