Maple Ridge United Mennonite Church (Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada)

The Maple Ridge United Mennonite Church (General Conference Mennonite), Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, was organized on 18 November 1945 by Mennonites who had come from the prairie provinces beginning in 1934. On 1 January 1948, the membership was 25. After that there was no increase from the outside, and the members were dependent on occasional employment in the peat and lumber industries, the church grew little, and church life was never completely organized. It was served by preachers from other congregations, principally by A. I. Loewen, Abbotsford, who received partial support from the Canadian Conference. Regular services in German were held on Sunday morning in a rented hall. No official membership was reported in 1954.
