Mandailang, Groot (Sumatera Utara, Indonesia)

Groot Mandailang, a territory on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, where a mission station among the Tobanes immigrants was opened in 1925 by the Dutch Mennonite Mission Association, on the special instigation of Pastor J. E. van Brakel of Koog-Zaandijk. This mission, generously supported by the congregation of Heubuden, West Prussia, was successful (two small congregations soon arose at Bonandolok and Sihipeng) but in 1930 had to be transferred to the German Rheinland Mission Society because of lack of Mennonite missionaries.
