Maerten de Wael (d. 1557)
Maerten de Wael (official name Martin le Josne), an Anabaptist martyr, burned at the stake at Antwerp, Belgium, on 22 May 1557. His wife, Claerken Boucquet, suffered martyrdom at Antwerp on 6 July of the same year. Maerten was a native of Douai in France. His name is found in the hymn "Aenhoort, Godt, hemelsche Vader" (Hear, O God, heavenly Father), No. 16 of the Lietboecxken van den Offer des Heeren.
