Lourys Lourisz, a Dutch [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr of [[Leiden (Zuid-Holland, Netherlands)|Leiden]], was beheaded on 28 July 1534, at The Hague. He was active in preaching and baptizing at Leiden, Dutch province of South Holland, probably in the spring of 1534. Lourys Lourisz, a Dutch Anabaptist martyr of Leiden, was beheaded on 28 July 1534, at The Hague. He was active in preaching and baptizing at Leiden, Dutch province of South Holland, probably in the spring of 1534. The assertion of Knappert that Lourisz practiced polygamy and left behind "two widows" has been disproved by Mellink, who suggested that Lourys Lourisz was a brother of the martyr Adriaen Lourisz.
