Loosjes, Vincent (1786-1841)

Vincent Loosjes, only son of Adriaan Loosjes and Cornelia Johanna Herdingh (Haarlem), succeeded his father in the book and publishing business of Erven Loosjes. Both he and his wife Suzanna van Westerkappel were managers of the Haarlem Mennonite orphanage. In commemoration of the second centennial of the founding of the orphanage, Loosjes in 1834 delivered an address which was published: Toespraak aan de kinderen in het Oude Weeshuis (Haarlem, 1834). In 1828 he became a trustee of the Algemene Doopsgezinde Sociëteit (Dutch Mennonite General Conference) and curator of its theological seminary.
