Izaak le Long was born 19 April 1683 at Frankfurt, Germany and died in 1762 at Hanau, Germany. He lived at Amsterdam from 1718-1744. He was a collector and translator of books, especially on church history. Le Long was a member of the Reformed Church, but in 1738 he joined the Moravian Brethren. He published a large number of books in the Dutch language, including Boekzaal der Nederduytsche Bijbels (Amsterdam, 1732, 2nd edition Hoorn, 1764), which is of interest because of Mennonite Bibles and New Testaments reviewed in this book. It is, however, not complete; for example, an edition of the Bible in folio, published by the Mennonite Jacques van der Schuere in 1649 at Amsterdam, is not mentioned.
