LCEMC at opening service in new space, September 2011. LCEMC webiste.

The Lao Canadian Evangelical Mennonite Church (LCEMC), under the leadership of Kuaying Teng, pastor of the Lao Christian Fellowship, and Chinda Kommala, a lay leader, began to meet in Toronto, Ontario, in September 2004. The congregation originated from a division within the Toronto United Lao Mennonite Church over the leadership of its pastor, Boris Sithideth.

They have tried to reach Laotians, Thais and other nationals who live in the Greater Toronto Area. The group became an emerging congregation within Mennonite Church Eastern Canada in April 2006. The congregation has alternated between English and Lao services, with translation into Lao during English preaching. The LCEMC has shared some joint services a few Sundays each year with three other Mennonite Church Eastern Canada churches: Community Mennonite Fellowship in Drayton, Steinmann Mennonite Church in Baden, and Wanner Mennonite Church in Cambridge.

On 11 December 2011 there was reconciliation with the Toronto United Lao Mennonite Church (TULMC), and the remaining members of TULMC became part of Lao Canadian Evangelical Mennonite Church.

For some years the congregation met in the office area of a rice warehouse. On 26 September 2010 it moved into new quarters in an industrial area at the corner of Finch and Weston in Toronto.
