Kouwer is a Mennonite family found in the Zaan district, Dutch province of North Holland, living at Zaandam, Wormerveer, and Koog aan de Zaan. Some members of this family have served the church as deacons. Benjamin Jan Kouwer (b. 1861 at Wormerveer, d. 1933 at Utrecht), a noted physician at Haarlem and later professor of gynecology at the University of Utrecht, was a member of the church.
